Joy & Restoration

Joy & Restoration

We don't have to wait until everything is okay to experience joy.

Nuna creates speaking, workshops, and interactive experiences that help people explore joy during difficult times — not as a way of ignoring what is happening, but as a way of reconnecting with ourselves and one another.

What Do I Mean by Joy?

Not "just be happy."

I'm not talking about pretending everything is okay, or telling people to just be happy.

We can be grieving and still laugh. We can care deeply about injustice and still dance. We can be navigating uncertainty and still experience beauty, friendship, movement, rest, and connection.

Joy does not erase difficult realities. Sometimes it simply reminds us that those realities don't get to take everything from us.

Two Ideas

Resistance & Restoration.

01

Joy as Resistance

When people and communities are facing injustice, violence, displacement, uncertainty, or exhaustion, resistance can take many forms. Sometimes it's organizing, advocating, and speaking up. And sometimes it's refusing to surrender every beautiful part of ourselves.

02

Joy as Restoration

Joy can also put something back into us. Movement. Music. Nature. Laughter. Rest. Community. Something we loved doing as a child. Sometimes these simple experiences help us reconnect with a part of ourselves that has become difficult to hear.

What brings you back to yourself?
Music?  Movement?  Meditation?  Prayer?  Nature?  Solitude?  A person who knows you?  Something you loved as a child?
What Happens in the Room?

Not a lecture. An experience.

Expect conversation, reflection, movement, laughter, music, storytelling, and opportunities to connect with one another. Some experiences are quiet. Others may have the whole room moving.

I am not there simply to lecture about joy. I want people to experience it.
